RISING ABOVE IT

To survive, it is necessary to accept the world as it is and to be prepared to rise above it.

My work “Lebanon in white on black” captures the memory of something doomed to disappear. The white snow is short lived as it soon turns into muddy black. For some, black embodies vice while white signifies virtue. To accentuate virtue and marginalize vice, I focused my images on the virginity of the snow and the stillness of the wind, the immobility of the trees and the forgotten tracks of strangers. I relied on my primitive camera to capture the romantic accents of Lebanese landscapes, ruins, stones, trees, water and timeless characters.
